Town centre conversions

The brief on this project was initially to design the replacement roof structure of a disused public house using engineered timber joists, which give greater span capacity than traditional timber.

The main ridge purlin used LVL (Laminated Veneer Lumber) and we used Cullen connectors so that the installation was simplified for site trades. Rafters and floor joists were replaced with our Steico 300mm deep engineered I joists, which are lightweight and so could easily be manoeuvred into position and the end result is a flat, strong and stable floor surface.

The extension of the existing building was built in timber frame, again due to speed of build and access, so that wall panels could be erected quickly, reducing cost and time on site.
