Glasgow Commonwealth Games

Wyder Engineered Timber Systems was part of a team of companies that delivered the 2014 Commonwealth Games Village.

The project in Dalmarnock, situated on the banks of the River Clyde, is a landmark regeneration project for the East End of Glasgow and Scotland as a whole.

The Athletes’ Village provided accommodation to the thousands of competitors and officials who gathered in Glasgow for the 2014 Games. It is currently being transformed into a vibrant community hub with housing, amenities and public spaces.

Wyder Engineered Timber Systems provided the insulated roof panels to construct 228 homes within the development.

Designed to the stricter ‘U value’ and air tightness requirements of the 2013 Building Regulations, which aims for a 60% reduction in Carbon emissions over the 2007 regulations, the properties saw us conform to carbon reduction levels earlier than regulations enforce thanks to our ongoing investment in research and development  and commitment to innovation.

Our role in what is was  one of the most significant urban developments on the ground in the UK was testament to our capability to execute projects of scale within tightly managed time schedules and deliver bespoke solutions to the most challenging briefs.
