Slender boards are bonded together under heat and pressure. This is what enables them to withstand weight and environmental factors that would otherwise cause conventional timbers to buckle and split over time. Engineered timbers are superior in strength as well as durability and can far outlast traditional beams.
When you consider the fact that engineered timbers are longer lived and stronger than traditional wood beams, fewer repairs will need to be made over time. Also, these eco-friendly products are able to help with insulation as part of the process calls for pre-insulation within the timber itself.
